In March 2010, a young jockey was crowned champion in the show jumping event at the KRA Cup, marking his debut in the senior competition.
His talents already proven at junior competitions, he became the youngest jockey to be chosen for the National Equestrian Team and drastically lowered the average age of Korean jockeys. Also an actor, his name is Kim Seok.
As a child actor, Kim first started horseback riding as a way to boost his stamina. But now he finds himself as a member of the national team, with all eyes upon him. Giving him their full support are his mother, who was a former member of the National Artistic Gymnastics Team; his father, the current president of the Equestrian Federation of Gangwon Province; and his coach, who used to be the head coach of Samsung Equestrian Team. Kim repays their love and support with his outstanding performances.
The National Spring Equestrian Competition is held from May 12 to May 15, 2011. Will Kim be able to repay their trust once again?
Both an actor and a jockey, Kim does not want to let go of either of his professions; however, for now, he wishes to focus more on horseback riding as the member of the national team. Meet this budding jockey on Arirang TV's "Life between Games."
