Jikji, the world's first metal-printed book stored in France
The book number 109 and the donation number 9832 are the other names of the oldest metal-printed book in the world named "Jikji." It is stored in a foreign country and cannot be brought to its homeland yet. We take a look at the meaning of its numbers and symbolism.
"Jikji" is a book about tragic events but its value was never recognized in Korea or France. Printed in 1377; auctioned off for 180 francs; Volume 3738 of the "Supplemant a la Bibliographie Coreenne"... These are the numbers representing the history of "Jikji." The mystery of "Jikji," from its birth to this day, is revived through numbers.
