Early last month, the 2010 International Awards for Liveable Communities were held in the American city of Chicago.

Suncheon City in Korea's South Jeolla Province won silver prize as one of the world's most livable cities at this Awards.  It wasn't surprising because Suncheon represents Korea at the United Nations Environmental Programme.

Today G-KOREA takes you to the country's ecological capital.

We have chosen to focus on Wood Pallet, which is an alternative energy source to fossil fuel. Wood Pallet is made of wood chips and has better caloric value than fossil fuels, thus making it an eco-friendly and economical option.

Long johns have also received attention for their ability to keep people warm and for their fashionable designs.

Wood Pallet and long johns are the way to save energy in winter.

Positioned at the center of the backbone of Korea, Deogyusan was designated as the 10th national park in Korea in 1975.

Deogyusan also has the fourth tallest mountain in South Korea (Hyangjeokbong 1,614m) which preserves a sub-alpine ecosystem. Each year about one million visiters come to Deogyusan National Park.

With a total of 1,067 plant species, Deogyusan National Park is called “The Heaven of Wild Flowers".
