The World On arirang

"Byeolsin"is a special spirit -it signifies the spirit of the ancestor who founded the village. The village festival entreats the favor of the ancestor spirit to give peace, well-being, and abundant catch and safety infishing. This is a grand scale ritual which spans over 3 days and 2 nights with dozens of shamans participating and tens of thousands of dollars spent in costs.

All the villagers testify that after the ritual, the village becomes peaceful and accidents are prevented. That is because the ritual functions as a source of unity and harmony for the village residents.
