아리랑 프라임 – 소녀들의 미래, 그것은 우리들의 미래
A 15-Year-Old Cambodian Girl Becomes a Mother
Cambodian girl Lanh Akk just became a mother at the age of 15. She stopped going to school when she was 14 and got married. She still has so much to learn about being a mother. And Lanh Akk's own mother is only 32 years old as well. Here, child marriage is common practice. Girls are forced to give up school and marry because of poverty or customs. To help these girls dream again, NGOs stepped in.

Girls Start Dreaming Again
An international NGO with its branch in Korea have been pouring efforts into solving girls' child marriage and school dropout problems in developing countries. With their help, girls receive job education, find a career, and secure financial stability. In addition, a local youth group has been changing people's awareness on the prevalence of child marriage and domestic violence. Now, even poor girls in Cambodia can dream about their future.

Nepalese Girls' Suffering and Hope
Maanti Devi Ram is a single mother of a 2-year-old girl. When she was 14, she married early to ease the burden on her family. However, she ended up being a divorcee because of her abusive ex-husband. She started working at a brick factory to make her ends meet, but life is still hard.
Another girl, Parthami Kumari Shah, married when she was 15 but she narrowly escaped death when her ex-husband and in-laws beat her. Now, she is back in school and starting to dream again. She has also been participating in the NGO's volunteer program for the local community. She actively volunteers because it is her sincere hope that no other girls fall victim to child marriage again. It is her dream to rid the world of child marriage.

Girls' Future, Our Future
Girls are the future mothers. And just like everyone else, they are a part of this society. However, they are being discriminated against and neglected just for being girls. Small help can help them completely transform their lives and this process can also help other girls and the society they belong in. And through this, we can learn why it is important to help girls in developing countries.
This is a sad yet heartwarming story of what it is like to live as a girl in a developing country.
