Dance Legend Choi Seung-hee
Born in 1911, Choi Seung-hee was dubbed the Isadora Duncan of Asia,
the pioneer who integrated Korea's traditional dance with modern dance, and the heroine who instilled Korean pride during the Japanese Forced Occupation on the world's stage.
Little Choi Seung-hee
Ye-bin learned about dance on TV when she was 5 years old.
She had her first solo performance that year and she became known as "Little Choi Seung-hee" in the dance world when she was 6. And now, 12 years later, she is preparing for another solo performance titled "Choi Seung-hee Arirang."
Honoring Choi Seung-hee's spirit and philosophy
Choi Seung-hee would have been over 100 years old if she were alive today.
There are not many records of her in South Korea because she defected to North Korea. Likewise, there are no teachers in South Korea who can teach Choi Seung-hee's compositions.
Seok Ye-bin prepares for her second Choi Seung-hee performance for the first time in 12 years. Will Ye-bin be able to revive the dance legend Choi Seung-hee's compositions?
Arirang Prime will cover the stories of Choi Seung-hee and Seok Ye-bin on wednesday, July 15.
