- Hyun-tae, CEO of Ra Beauty Core
Riding the Korean wave, Korean beauty is rising in popularity by the day. Due to overseas expansion of hair salons and rising popularity of Korean hairstyles through celebrities, the size of the Korean wave-related beauty industry is expected to reach around 7.51 billion dollars in 2014.
Hair designer Hyun-tae was invited to the stage as the first Korean and also Asian to give a beauty master class at a global beauty business forum where approximately 2,500 distinguished hair dressers from 57 countries around the world gather together to share the latest trends and visions. Hyun-tae, who started with practically nothing, became a star designer with a 200-thousand dollar salary in 6 years since entering the beauty industry. He currently runs "Ra Beauty Core," a beauty salon with annual sales of 10-million dollars.
Hyun-tae reached the height of his success in the mid-1990s by taking center stage with his hairstyling of top local celebrities. This week on "Heart to Heart," we meet Hyun-tae, a leading figure of the Korean beauty industry, and listen to his success story along with plans for the globalization of the Korean wave.
