August 12th marks Separated Families Day in Korea. The Korean War resulted in numerous separated families but the numbers continued to increase due to North Korean abductions of South Korean civilians. As of today, there are 516 South Koreans detained in the North. As Pyongyang denies its abductions, Seoul faces challenges in approaching the issue.
