When Rain was in high-school in 1998, he took his first step into the K-pop industry as a member of the 6-member dance group Fan Club. This group did not gain a lot of fame, and had to disband. But, there was someone who recognized Jung Ji-hoon's potential and made him into the star 'Rain.' It was Park Jin-young.

After a long training period. he made his debut as a solo artist through the title track 'Bad Guy' in May of 2002 under the name 'Rain.' He rose to stardom through his activities of his follow-up song 'Instead of saying Goodbye' and swept most of the New Artist awards in that year's music awards.

In 2003, after the activities of his first album, he starred as 'Cha Sang-doo'in the drama 'Sang-doo, Lets go to School.' He made his debut not as singer Rain, but as actor Jung Ji-hoon. Despite many people's concerns, he earned positive reviews as an actor, and received a lot of love from the public.

After his successful debut as an actor, he released his second album titled 'How to Avoid the Sun' in January of 2003. It soared to the top as soon as it was released. His follow-up song 'Do You Like it that I'm Famous' was well-loved, and he shot straight to the top.

In 2004, Rain met a production which brought him luck. It was 'Full House,' which he co-starred alongside actress Song Hye-kyo .¡®Full House' had high viewers' rating in Korea, and after its airing, it was exported to the Philippines, Malaysia, and other Asian countries. This production became a foothold for Rain to become a top-notch star in Asia.

After 'Full House,' he released his third album titled 'It's Raining.' It sold over a million copies all over Asia, and he secured his spot as Asia's star. Through this opportunity, Rain worked hard to debut overseas. He took a step closer to his Asian fans by holding his first-ever showcase in Japan, and even held an Asia tour titled 'Rainy Day 2005 Tour.'

Rain secured his spot right at the top of the K-pop industry, and showed determination to secure his spot in the acting industry by working in the 2005 drama 'A Love to Kill.' He worked with actress Shin Min-ah in 'A Love to Kill,' and received positive reviews from the public over his detailed acting with depth and great emotion.

In May of 2006, when Rain debuted in the United States, he was mentioned in the Time Magazine website article that named the "100 Most Influential People Who Shape Our World." His name made it on the list once again in 2011.

Rain became a world star and in 2006, he released his 4th album titled 'Rain's World.' The title track 'I'm Coming' had a combination of electronic sounds and hiphop rhythm, and the sensual song with a sad melody 'In My Bed' received a lot of love. He freely showed his attractive traits to the max.

Actor Jung Ji-hoon's silver screen debut production was director Park Chan-wook's 'I'm a Cyborg but that's OK.' Thanks to this movie, he received the New Actor Awards at the 43rd BaekSang Arts Awards and at the 1st Korea Film Awards.

Rain drove on without a break, but in 2007, he parted ways with Park Jin-young, established his own label company, and released his 5th album titled 'Rainism.' Things went smoothly for Rain, and appealed to the public with his talented singing skills and sexy traits. His heavy breathing and provocative dance moves became Rain's trademark on stage.

Rain did not hide his desire to make it big in the States. And in 2007, he was cast in the Hollywood blockbuster 'Speed Racer' directed by the Wachowski Brothers. It seemed natural to see him next to internationally acclaimed actors such as Susan Sarandon and others.

Rain confidently walked on the path of success in the international entertainment industry, and he held a fan meeting with his Korean fans after a long break. He gained energy from their never-ending support.

In 2010, Rain released a new album titled 'Back to the Basic' in Korea after a year's break. As soon as he made his comeback, his title track 'Love Song' shot right to the number 1 spot on music programs.

As soon as he completed his album activities, he focused on the filming of the drama 'The Fugitive: Plan B.' He played the activities of 'Ji-woo', who's smart, but likes money and women. And worked alongside actress Lee Na-young.

In 2008, Rain secured the leading role in 'Ninja Assassins' produced by the Wachowski Brothers. And thanks to this production, Rain walked away with the golden popcorn for Biggest Badass Star at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.

Rain had an under-privileged childhood, and became a world-famous star through a lot of hard work, and his story of making a name for himself was in the spotlight. He was in the spotlight for the past ten years, and now, the first act of his successful career has come to a close.

Before enlisting for his mandatory military duties, Rain held his last concert at a major street in Seoul. Approximately 20,000 people came to see his last performance, proving his fame and potential energy. Rain heated up the atmosphere of the last concert, and gave out his last greeting to his fans.

Part 1 of Rain's successful career has come to an end. We can look forward to the start of part 2 of Rain's excellent career as a singer and as actor Jung Ji-hoon two years later, once he completes his military duty.
