Today on All That Star, we will take you to meet Kim Ki-bum who made a successful transition from a member of the top idol group, Super Junior, to a true actor! He has been broadening his acting spectrum over the years through various productions and he recently returned to the small screen with improved acting skills. Let's go meet him right now!
We caught up with Kim Ki-bum on the filming set of the drama, 'I Love Lee Tae-ri,' which is becoming more and more popular by the day. The filming finally began... and we saw him showing off his long legs and great looks in a suit.
In this drama, Kim Ki-bum plays the role of a 14-year-old boy named Geum Eun-dong, who becomes a 25-year-old named Hwang Min-soo overnight through a mysterious event. How did Kim Ki-bum feel about having to transform from a teen to an adult overnight?
'I Love Lee Tae-ri' garnered much attention from Kim Ki-bum's fans all over the world even before it started airing on TV. He revealed that he was full of worries before taking on this production, as he questioned his ability to portray a teen with the body of an adult!
He left many fans disappointed and curious when he decided to take a break from the stage to focus on his acting career. Before he joined Super Junior, he debuted as an actor in 2004 through 'April Kiss.' He pursued both singing and acting careers, and dominated the music industry as a member of Super Junior and grew as an actor through various productions.
He returned to the small screen as an actor through the drama, 'Deep-rooted Tree,' which was a historical drama about the secret behind the invention of Hangul. He played the role of Park Paeng-nyeon, a scholar at Jiphyeonjeon, and gained positive reviews for his performance.
Kim Ki-bum emigrated to the U.S. with his parents when he was young. And he returned to Korea with a dream to become an actor. He revealed that the most memorable production he's ever been in was 'Sharp 1' about the growing pains of teenagers.
After gaining recognition for his acting skills through 'Deep-rooted Tree,' he undertook various roles in plays, dramas and movies in order to shed off his 'idol star' image. He showed his ambition to become a true actor.
Kim Ki-bum dominated the music scene as a member of Super Junior, and is solidifying his acting skills to dominate the entertainment industry as an actor. We wish him all the best and hope he grows into an internationally-recognized actor!
