Box office sales for domestic movies from January to November this year dropped by around 10 percentage points compared to 2007.
A report by CGV the country's largest multiplex cinema chain shows that out of 135-million moviegoers nationwide around 40 percent of them went to see Korean films. This is down from 50 percent last year and 65 percent in 2006.
But with a string of Korean movies released in November ticket sales saw an advance of almost 4 percent compared to the previous month. However December is looking to be yet another test for the domestic film market with the release of foreign blockbusters such as 'Australia,' 'Twilight' and 'Yes Man.'
