COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on global youth labor market: ILO Updated: 2022-08-12 12:49:39 KST

The COVID-19 pandemic did more damage to youth employment worldwide than it did to that of adults.
This, according to the International Labour Organization's latest report on Thursday.
The UN agency said, the pandemic has wreaked havoc on youth employment with people aged between 15 and 24 lagging behind other age groups.
It added, first-time job seekers were particularly vulnerable.
The data estimates the number of unemployed youths globally will reach 73 million this year about six million more than the pre-pandemic level in 2019.
Arab nations had the highest and the fastest growing unemployment rate of young people with the rate projected at almost 25 percent this year.
