S. Korea plans to provide 10 times faster Wi-Fi on subways by the end of the year Updated: 2022-07-04 13:20:38 KST

Wi-Fi service on parts of the Seoul subway is about to get much faster.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced Monday that it's working with South Korean mobile carriers to make 5-G services available on on the 28-gigahertz band, which is 10 times faster than now.
This will be on Seoul subway lines 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
The work should be complete by the end of this year.
Based on a report from the ministry last year, the average Wi-Fi speed on subway cars was only one fifth of the national average.
To connect to the 5G network, passengers will just need to scan a QR codes posted in the subway car.
