Diesel and gasoline consumption dropped sharply in South Korea last month due to soaring energy prices sparked by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
According to a website run by Korea National Oil Corporation, diesel and gasoline consumption, by volume, declined in April by 5.8 percent compared to a month earlier.
Compared to a year ago, it was down by 18.3 percent.
The Korea Petroleum Association says demand was lower ahead of the bigger on fuel that took effect this month but it forecasts a slight increase for May.
