The death toll in the elementary school shooting in South Texas is rising.
Latest reports say 18 students and one teacher have been killed after a gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School on Tuesday local time.
Texas Senator Roland Guiterrez, speaking to CNN confirmed the increase in the number of fatalities.
According to Texas governor, Greg Abbott, 18-year-old suspect Salvador Ramos was shot dead by law enforcement at the scene.
He also said that two officers sustained minor injuries while exchanging gunfire during the incident.
The gunman is believed to have shot his grandmother before going to the elementary school.
Authorities have said that the suspect carried out the attack alone.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden, in an address to the nation called the shooting "another massacre" and said it is "time to act".
