At the summit of the Quad group of countries today in Tokyo, the leaders of the United States, Australia, India and Japan have reaffirmed their shared goal of a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
In their joint statement issued on Tuesday, the four countries agreed to a new joint response plan, which will include an information-sharing system to deter China's illegal fishing in the region.
The summit also covered the Ukraine crisis President Joe Biden slamming Russian forces for provoking what he called a humanitarian catastrophe and trying to extinguish Ukrainian culture.
According to Japan's Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, the four leaders discussed North Korea's recent military activities and agreed to work together for the regime's denuclearization.
