BOOSTING TOURISM AMID NEW NORMAL Updated: 2022-05-18 08:36:39 KST

REVIVING REGIONAL TRAVEL & TOURISM

In line with efforts to embrace a new normal border restrictions have been eased to allow for leisure travel and tourism.
For more on the prospects ahead I have Professor Bae So-young from Kyung Hee University.
Professor Bae it's good to have you here.
I also have Mr. Paul PRU-ANG-KARN at the Pacific Asia Travel Association.
Mr. PRU-ANG-KARN it's a pleasure to have you on.

1) Professor Bae… the impact of COVID-19 on the tourism industry has been extensive to say the least.
Let's start with a few words on this sad reality.

2) And… Mr. PRU-ANG-KARN… what can you… share with… us… about changes… in travel trends… in the Asian region… in the wake of the pandemic?

3) Professor Bae… Korea is now seeking to embrace a new normal amid COVID-19.
That being said… what is the status quo… in the local tourism sector?

4) Mr. PRU-ANG-KARN… what are your prospects… with regard to the tourism industry… here in Asia… this year?

5) Professor Bae I understand there are also quite a number of favorable factors that look to further boost the regional tourism industry.
Do tell us more.

6) Mr. PRU-ANG-KARN… how does… the lifting… of COVID-19 related border protocols… look to affect… the tourism industry… as is the case… in countries like Vietnam and Thailand?

7) Professor Bae… industry insiders here… have also… called for SIMPLER COVID-19 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS to allow for greater numbers of inbound travelers into Korea.
And it appears that their calls have been answered right?

8) Mr. PRU-ANG-KARN… what do you propose… to ensure… sustainable growth… within the tourism industry… as we… hope to move beyond… the pandemic era?

9) Meanwhile Professor Bae… what else do you propose to further encourage foreign visitors to Korea?

10) Professor Bae… tourism trends marked… a tangible change… during the pandemic do you see these trends disappearing as we embark on a new normal or are these trends here to stay?

All right
