In-depth: Global market wrap-up Updated: 2022-05-16 13:21:04 KST

Time now for an in-depth look at the market news this afternoon.
And for that, I'm joined on the line by Dr. Yang Jun-sok, Professor of Economics at The Catholic University of Korea.
Professor Yang, good afternoon.
Thank you as always for making time today.

Thank you.

Let's start with Wall Street. Stocks closed quite a bit higher, the Dow for the first time in seven sessions, but for the week all three main indices were down. It's going to be a big week for retail earnings the futures right now, though, pointing to a lower open. What's the story in the global markets as we start a new week?

Korean stocks were a mix today. Both indices started out higher. Those gains were soon tapered on disappointing data from China, it seems. The KOSPI closing lower, but a gain on the KOSDAQ. Tell us about the domestic market.

This week, we'll have an economic forecast for the second half of the year from the Korea Development Institute. Also, economic data on households. What's on your radar, Professor, in the week ahead?
