The costs of food and transportation in South Korea rose last year at the fastest pace in a decade.
According to Statistics Korea, transportation costs rose 6.3 percent, while food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 5.9 percent.
The agency attributed the higher prices for energy and farm products.
By item, milk, eggs, and other dairy products were up more than 11 percent, while fruit rose 10.7 percent.
Gasoline was up almost 15 percent, diesel 16-and-a-half percent and LPG 18 percent.
For the year overall, consumer prices rose 2.5 percent, which was also steepest on-year rise since 2011.
