The Seoul Administrative Court on Friday ruled against the government's new requirement for vaccine passes at supermarkets and department stores.
The rule, which took effect on Monday, has been overturned in the capital city Seoul, the court saying it was excessive in view of the lower risk of transmission at these places.
It also overturned all vaccine pass requirements in Seoul for people aged 12 to 18.
Friday's ruling was on a lawsuit filed by more than 1-thousand people who claimed that requiring vaccine passes virtually everywhere essentially forces people to get vaccinated.
