President Moon Jae-in has SHARED PLANS to DIVERSIFY IMPORT SOURCES and BOOST DOMESTIC PRODUCTION amid current DISRUPTIONS WITHIN global supply chains.
"Since last month, we have been operating an early warning system to preemptively figure out the production and export situation in key countries of 4,000 items which we are largely externally-dependent on. We will also designate key products related to the economy and security, and will come up with supply and demand stabilization measures, including expanding reserves, diversifying importers and boosting local production."
Speaking at an event to mark Korea's Trade Day on this Monday President MOON also spoke of Korea's INTENTIONS to EXPAND its EXPORT MARKET AS a regional trade deal involving countries within the ASIA-PACIFIC arena TAKES EFFECT next year.
Efforts are reportedly underway to ensure SIMILAR TRADE ARRANGEMENTS with markets in Central America and the Middle East.
President Moon also touched upon the importance of easing carbon footprints to allow for sustainable economic growth.
