South Korea is still in its worst COVID-19 situation so far, reporting 1,629 cases on Saturday.
This marks the 18th straight day, of the figure staying above the 1-thousand mark.
The greater Seoul area remains the hardest-hit,accounting for 60 percent of cases.
But other parts of the country are also seeing alarming surges especially in summer hotspots like the southern city of Busan, which reported over 1-hundred cases alone.
The capital region will remain under the highest distancing measures for another 2 weeks.
Authorities will announce strengthened measures for the rest of the country by Sunday.
