South Korea's Food and Drug Safety Ministry said today it has launched a review for approval of the Janssen vaccine owned by Johnson and Johnson.
The country has finished contracts with the drugmaker to give the Janssen vaccine to 6-million people, starting from the second quarter.
On Friday, a U.S. FDA committee voted to grant emergency use authorization to Johnson and Johnson's coronavirus vaccine.
It is a one-shot vaccine, that can be stored in regular refrigerators.
The Johnson and Johnson vaccine will become the third authorized for use in the U.S.
Globally, the vaccine showed an overall efficacy of 66 percent in preventing moderate to severe disease.
