The Senate impeachment trial of former U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to start in the second week of February.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Friday that the trial would start the week of February 8.
He said the Senate would continue to conduct business, including confirming executive branch nominees under the Joe Biden administration, and working on a COVID-19 relief package.
Earlier, President Biden signaled a possible trial delay to allow more time for his administration to get prepared.
Last week, the House of Representatives passed an impeachment article against Trump, accusing him of inciting an insurrection over the storming of the U.S. Capitol.
The article is expected to be delivered to the Senate next Monday.
