It's a snowy start to the work week in Seoul.
It started falling heavily in the capital a couple of hours ago.
Let's go to our weather center, where our Lee Jeehyun is standing by.
Jeehyun, a happy time for kids, but less fun for those of us who have to drive later..
Good afternoon, Mark. Despite the snow we are seeing, it is still expected to be less than what the weather agency was originally forecasting.
However, we could see on and off snow continuing into the evening so keep that in mind. Other parts of the country have seen a moderate amount of snow. Hongcheon, in Gangwon-do Province saw more than 20 centimeters.
In fact, parts of Gangwon-do could receive 10 more centimeters of snow over the coming hours. Other regions could see 3 to 8 centimeters into this evening with a heavy snow advisory issued.
Temperature-wise, we'll see readings that are much milder than what we saw over the weekend, then there will be a big plunge tomorrow so today's snow could freeze overnight.
We can already feel those colder winds so despite the positive afternoon highs, it will feel a lot colder than what the thermometer is pointing at.
But at least the upcoming cold spell will be short lived, afternoon highs will hike to the warmer side by Wednesday afternoon, but a nationwide wintry mix is in store for this Thursday and Saturday. That's all the weather update for now.
