N. Korea convenes Supreme People's Assembly meeting Updated: 2021-01-17 10:00:38 KST

North Korea today is holding a session of its rubber-stamp parliament, the Supreme People's Assembly.
Unlike past sessions, state media did not report on the arrival in Pyeongyang of Assembly delegates, so it appears the session is continuing on from the Worker's Party Congress that wrapped up just a few days ago.
The Supreme People's Assembly is expected to formally approve key decisions made by the Party in areas such as personnel and budget.
One thing observers are watching is whether leader Kim Jong-un's sister, Kim Yo-jong, is appointed to the State Affairs Commission, which is considered the North Korean state's "supreme policy-oriented leadership body."
