KAIST develops technology to kill COVID-19 virus using hydroxide ions Updated: 2020-10-14 16:11:16 KST

The South Korean science research university, KAIST, has announced that it's developed a technology that can kill the COVID-19 virus using water droplets.
Professor Lee Seung-seob and his team said that the new technology produces microscopic droplets containing particles called hydroxyl radicals, which are the neutral form of the hydroxide ion.
They kill germs and viruses and do not affect human health.
The process is called 'electrostatic atomization.'
Because the particles are contained in water droplets, they last longer in the air, making them a good disinfectant.
