First phone call between Pres. Moon, Japan's PM Suga scheduled for Thurs.: FNN Updated: 2020-09-24 05:45:04 KST

The leaders of South Korea and Japan are expected to have their first official phone call on Thursday.
According to Fuji News Network, Japan's new Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga is expected to request Seoul's cooperation in resolving the North Korean abduction issue.
During a recent exchange of letters, Suga expressed hopes the two sides can form a "future-oriented bilateral relationship", while President Moon Jae-in called Japan the "closest friend"adding that South Korea is willing to talk any time.
The last time the leaders of the two countries engaged in official dialogue was last December.
