UN report shows N. Korea continuing nuclear, missile development: NHK Updated: 2020-08-03 06:00:54 KST

A UN report indicates North Korea is continuing its nuclear and missile development programs, using funds obtained illicitly by carrying out ship-to-ship transfers of goods in violation of UN sanctions.
According to a report by Tokyo-based NHK on Sunday, a UN panel of experts assessed how far its sanctions against Pyeongyang have been carried out during the period of six months through July.
It said the North reaffirmed its commitment to retaining and developing its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, adding the North had conducted four launches of short-range ballistic missiles in March.
The report also indicates that North Korea has continued to violate Security Council resolutions through illicit maritime exports of coal.
