2020 SAC Classic Festival kicks off with 14 orchestras performing Updated: 2020-08-01 12:43:51 KST

Brahms' Piano Concerto Number One gracefully fills the air at Seoul Arts Center's concert hall.
After being postponed for three months due to the pandemic, the 2020 SAC Classic Festival finally kicked off, with 14 orchestras ready to perform to audiences until August 10th.
The Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra opened the festival, playing a piece by Brahms and Schumann.
Empty seats were hard to find, showing just how much people have been waiting for live musical performances.
The head of the first show says this is such a rare but valuable chance not only because the audiences can enjoy the real acoustics of live concerts but also because it shows the world how well South Korea is dealing with the pandemic.

"For this very festival, very particularly, it's with orchestras. 14 orchestras and this is remarkable because if you look around the world it is very difficult even to hold any festival so with orchestra that means lots of people on stage and we have to be very careful but thanks to the government of course we can do this and it also shows the world how good we are dealing at COVID-19 situation."

"As well as the live broadcast of these classical performances, the wide screen at the outdoor stage at Seoul Arts Center will broadcast a variety of shows for visitors to enjoy."

Videos of performances that previously took place at Seoul Arts Center including the ballet 'The Nutcracker' will be played on the screen, so people can enjoy a picnic on the artificial grass while watching the performances.
