U.S. senior official says defense cost-sharing negotiations between Seoul, Washington still underway Updated: 2020-04-03 09:53:43 KST

A senior U.S. official says defense cost-sharing negotiations between Seoul and Washington are not complete, reiterating the need for an equitable and mutually beneficial deal for both sides.
At a virtual press briefing Thursday, Clarke Cooper, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs stressed the talks are still ongoing.
He explained the discussions are being conducted virtually, although the allies prefer to meet face-to-face.
South Korea and the U.S. have held seven rounds of face-to-face negotiations since last September in an effort to renew the Special Measures Agreement, which expired at the end of last year.
