Starting Thursday, the U.S. embassy in Seoul is suspending all "routine appointments" for immigrant and non-immigrant visas namely, visa interviews.
In a statement Wednesday, the embassy explained that the State Department is halting the issuing of visas in countries that have travel advisories of level two to four.
The U.S. travel advisory for South Korea is at level 3, "Reconsider Travel," and level 4, "Do Not Travel," for Daegu city.
This will not affect the visa-waiver program or services for U.S. citizens.
The embassy said it's unclear when visa work be able to resume.
