Vaccination rate among children under 12 low while Influenza is on rise Updated: 2019-12-10 08:51:01 KST

Health authorities in South Korea are encouraging parents to get their children under twelve years old free flu vaccines if they haven't done so already.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the vaccination rate is roughly 70 percent and four out of ten elementary students in the 4th grade and above haven't had their shots.
The health authority has been advising people to get the vaccine as soon as possible as the flu spreads in December and it takes about two weeks for the vaccine fully take effect.
