Leaders of the BRICS group of major emerging economies have reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism and free trade.
In their joint declaration made Thursday, Brasilia time, the BRICS countries Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa -- vowed to overcome "significant challenges" facing multilateralism and called for urgent reform of international organizations including the UN, WTO and the IMF.
They underlined the importance of "open, free and inclusive international trade" and urged all WTO members to avoid "unilateral and protectionist measures."
They also said they support a "peaceful, diplomatic and political solution" to the challenges surrounding the Korean Peninsula, adding that they support complete denuclearization.
