South Korea drew with Georgia in a friendly match in Istanbul on Thursday, ahead of their first match of the World Cup qualification stages.
Following a dismal performance in the first half, Bordeaux forward Hwang Ui-jo came to the rescue, scoring both goals for South Korea in the second half as the match finished two-two.
This brings Hwang's goal tally to nine in 17 matches, the highest among his peers under coach Paulo Bento.
The Portuguese coach on Thursday criticized the team's performance, calling it the worst he's ever seen with a lot of bad passes.
Team Korea will play against Turkmenistan next Tuesday as part of the qualification stages for the 2022 World Cup.
