S. Korea to toughen radiation checks on Japanese industrial imports Updated: 2019-09-04 16:06:25 KST

The Korea Customs Service is going to inspect industrial products imported from Japan more thoroughly to check for high levels of radiation.
In a written response to a question from lawmakers today, the agency said it will use new equipment to check radiation levels on site rather than sending off samples for tests, which takes more than a week.
The customs service said it will ask the government to triple the number of employees doing the inspections.
