Protestors in Tokyo call on PM Abe to drop trade restrictions on South Korea Updated: 2019-08-28 16:41:23 KST

Hundreds of Japanese people have taken to the streets of Tokyo to demand the Abe government renounce its removal of South Korea from its so-called "whitelist".
A Japanese civic group on Tuesday gathered in front of Prime Minister Abe's official residence, expressing their deep opposition to Tokyo's trade restrictions on South Korean companies.
They also slammed his lack of remorse on sensitive historical issues, including Japan's wartime actrocities, calling on the Japanese government to face up to its past wrongdoings.
Signs at the rally read "NO Abe," and called on the Japanese leader to stop using economic methods as a means of retaliation over historical disputes.
