U.S. pointman on North Korea in Myanmar to discuss North Korea Updated: 2017-07-18 07:28:50 KST

The U.S. special representative for North Korea policy is in Myanmar this week, apparently to intensify American efforts in curtailing Pyongyang's revenue streams.
Local officials say Joseph Yun met Myanmar's State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi on Monday, but details of their talks haven't been released.
Myanmar is the only other stop on Yun's Southeast Asia trip after he attended the Northeast Asia Cooperation Dialogue in Singapore, where a handful of local businesses have been suspected of helping North Korean entities.
Washington is concerned about Myanmar's previous ties to North Korea, which the Southeast Asian nation insists is no longer the case.
