The U.S. is reportedly considering the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons to the Korean peninsula to bolster defense readiness against growing threats from North Korea.
According to a report by the New York Times over the weekend, President Trump discussed all possible options in dealing with Pyongyang with his national security deputies over past several days.
Re-introducing nuclear weapons for the first time since the early 1990s would send a powerful warning to North Korea.
The sense of urgency stems from the fact that Seoul's strongest ally may not not have the most effective countermeasures against North Korean nuclear and missile programs that are proving to be far more resilient than many experts had previously thought.
