It has been confirmed that President Park Geun-hye will attend China's military parade in Beijing, in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War Two.
The presidential office says the decision to attend the September 3rd event in Tiananmen Square was made after considering Seoul's friendly cooperative relations with Beijing, and hopes for Beijing's future role in bringing peace and unification on the Korean peninsula.
Her appearance will also be in remembrance of Koreans' struggle for independence from Japan's colonial rule in China.
On September 2nd, the first day of her three-day visit to China, President Park will hold summit talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Before returning home, she will travel to Shanghai to attend a re-opening ceremony for the headquarters of Korea's provisional government during Japan's colonial rule.
