U.S. looks into diverse options to rescue three American detainees in North KoreaUpdated: 2014-09-03 18:07:52 (KST)
And onto the three American detainees held in North Korea.
The U.S. government says it is doing all it can to secure the release of the men.
Speaking to CNN on Tuesday, State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said the U.S. was looking into a variety of options to help them, such as dispatching a special envoy.
She added North Korea refused Washington's earlier proposal to send Robert King to Pyongyang -- he's the U.S. special envoy for North Korean Human Rights.
The White House also says the safe release of its citizens is at the top of the administration's agenda.
The comments come a couple of days after the three detainees were each granted a five minute interview with CNN, in which they all pleaded for the U.S. government to do more to help them.
