North Korea's leader has sent a wreath to mark the fifth anniversary on Monday of the passing of former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung.
The wreath was sent to a five-person delegation visiting the communist country that comprises the son and close aides of the former South Korean leader.
It was presented by Kim Yang-gon, the head of the United Front Department of the ruling Workers' Party.
The North Korean leader also forwarded a telegram of condolences to the delegation, which includes Kim Dae-jung's son and Park Jie-won, a prominent lawmaker of the main opposition New Politics Alliance for Democracy.
The handover took place in Kaesong, just north of the demilitarized zone that separates the two sides.
Kim Dae-jung is respected in North Korea for his efforts to reconcile with the country after his historic summit with then North Korean leader Kim Jong-il in 2000.
The former South Korean leader died in August 2009.
