President Park Geun-hye has emphasized the importance of education in regards to character development as the country continues to reel from some shocking bullying scandals in the army.
Chairing a meeting of the Presidential Committee for Cultural Enrichment in Seoul on Wednesday, the president said character building is a fundamental way to tackle current social issues, such as bullying and violence at schools and in military barracks.
In a related development, the army is launching a special task force on reforming Korea's military culture.
The task force will consist of officers, government officials and civilian experts who'll come up with a plan to combat bullying in the military by the end of this year.
