The United States, France and Australia have reportedly called for the UN Security Council to deal with North Korea's human rights violations.
In a report Saturday, the Voice of America said the three countries sent a joint letter to the president of the Security Council last Thursday, which called on the council to formally discuss a report by the UN Commission of Inquiry on human rights violations in the reclusive state.
The COI report, published in May, accused North Korea of "systematic, widespread and grave violations of human rights."
It also said the regime's leadership should face trial at the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.
