The Korean government has confirmed the first case of foot-and-mouth disease in Korea in well over three years.
Local government officials from Gyeongsangbuk-do Province say a pig at a farm in the region was confirmed to have contracted the disease after displaying symptoms.
Six-hundred pigs at the farm -- that's not all of them -- were culled in the early hours of this Thursday morning, as a precautionary measure.
Local and central governments will also strengthen quarantine measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
This latest case come at a bad time for Korea as the country has been looking to boost its pork exports.
