Nuclear envoys from S. Korea, Japan meet for talksUpdated: 2014-07-16 14:27:52 (KST)
South Korea's chief nuclear envoy Hwang Joon-kook will meet with his Japanese counterpart Junichi Ihara for talks in Tokyo on this Wednesday.
North Korea's recent military provocations will top the agenda, along with ways to restart the six-party nuclear talks.
The multilateral dialogue aimed at denuclearizing North Korea includes the two Koreas, the U.S., China, Japan and Russia, but has been at a standstill since 2008.
Amid rumors of a possible visit by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to North Korea, the two nuclear envoys will also touch upon Tokyo's recent discussions with Pyongyang.
Seoul and Washington have expressed concerns that Japan's talks with the North might affect their trilateral alliance.
