North Korea fires more missiles into East SeaUpdated: 2014-07-09 08:21:06 KST
North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea earlier this Wednesday morning.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said the projectiles suspected to be SCUD missiles with a range of 500 kilometers were launched at around 4 a.m. Korea time from the western Hwanghae-do province without an earlier warning.
This is the first time the North has test-fired missiles from its western coast to the east and marks the 13th launch so far this year.
The South Korean military has heightened its vigilance and beefed up its military readiness against any additional provocations by Pyongyang.
