North Korean leader Kim Jong-un limped onto the stage as he attended a mass memorial service commemorating the 20th anniversary of the death of North Korean founder Kim Il-sung.
Tuesday's memorial was broadcast live by the state media and the young Kim was shown walking with a visible limp.
The reason for the limp is not known, but it is a rare display of weakness from a regime whose leaders are considered semi-divine.
Senior military officers and party officials also attended the ceremony, but Kim Kyong-hui, the daughter of Kim Il-sung and aunt of Kim Jong-un, was not present.
Also absent was Kim Yang-gon, who is in charge of North Korea's cross-border affairs.
