Korea's two main political parties are spending their weekend conducting public-survey and public-participating primaries to select their candidates for the July 30th by-elections.
With an exception of a few, the parties are expected to decide on their candidates for most of the 15 constituencies up for grabs, before registrations begin next Thursday.
The ruling Saenuri Party's survey-based primary is currently taking place in the southeastern South Ulsan-B and northwestern Gyeonggi Suwon-B districts, and public-participation primaries will run for three days starting Sunday in three areas, including the Busan Haeundae.Gijang-A district.
The main opposition New Politics Alliance for Democracy will hold a survey primary Sunday in the central Chungnam Seosan.Taean, and a voting primary system will take place in the southwestern Jeonnam Suncheon.Gokseong.
