President Park Geun-hye will likely name General Han Min-koo as the nation's Defense Minister, following his confirmation hearing on Sunday.
The defense committee of the National Assembly agreed that General Han was qualified to serve as the nation's defense chief.
At his confirmation hearing, Han vowed to install the country's indigenous missile defense system as soon as possible to counter any North Korean threats.
Han also said he will make it clear to Pyongyang that it will never get any concessions through military provocations and threats.
Other nominees for key government posts will undergo confirmation hearings in the coming weeks.
